Angles of Reality
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
The book jackets of these nonfiction books are conceptually redesigned in a modern, dynamic way. The design direction was to have a minimalistic design, but impactful enough to showcase the context of the book and to help with the concept title: Angles of Reality. The title is significant to the topic of the books, but the visuals needed to emphasize the connections. With much historical research, the design decision was to focus only on the hands to the lower wrist area to depict the historical events in the books.
The killings of Trayvon Martin, George Floyd, and Breonna Taylor organized large protests all around the world to demand justice of the systemic oppression of Black people in America. We are in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement. These set of books are to help understand the historical context and educate on the ideology and practice of antiracism.
