Little Saigon
Enhancing the restaurant’s experience.
Little Saigon is a local restaurant franchise in the BC area. Established in 2006, Little Saigon wants to be known for serving MSG-free Vietnamese cuisine made from the freshest ingredients. The current website seems to be a default Wix website made in 2016. Today, users can browse the internet on variety of electronic devices and the old 2016 website doesn’t seem to be responsive design friendly. The approach here was to effectively redesign the website to be responsive and efficient to browse while maintaining the messages Little Saigon wants to convey to its guests.
User Flow
Guests often view images of the restaurant’s cuisine and would like to read about the restaurant before considering browsing the menu. The current website takes too many different clicks from the navbar to view quick images and learn about the restaurant. To help frame the user goal, the scope was to keep thing condense but efficient with the use of overlays and smart designing.
Design Issues
- “BC’s Buy Local Program” label is obstructing the navbar. The label seems to be out of placed.
- “No MSG, Just TLC” is Little Saigon’s logo, but the typography and placement doesn’t look like it’s a motto, but a claiming label. The word box seems to be lacking padding.
- The footer serves no additional purpose. It is the exact same content of the navbar, but scaled smaller. Social media links are very small, cannot recognize their icons at a quick glance.
- “BC’s Buy Local Program” label is overwhelmingly large covering majority of the space.
- “No MSG, Just TLC” text box looks more like an interactive navigation text box.
- Restaurant’s food images are not presented until user scrolls down.
